Within Our Pixelated World connects ceramics to screenprinting to display the relationship between technology and humanity. Within the pupil lies a faint form of the mobile phone as it is clasped in the hands. Delving into the narrative of why we feel so attached to it as it almost feels like becoming a part of our identity. Why do we capture life's moments in our phones instead of in our own eyes? Letting technology experience life before oneself, to just be forgotten in the endless camera roll. To create this piece, each tile was hand cut and each underglaze was made to create an overlay impression of CMYK but only one color was used for each tile with a black layer outlining all the details. The underglaze was pushed through mesh screens with individual burned cut-out acetate. Combining both of these techniques resulted in displaying how permanent technology has become and how pixelated our environment is evolving around us.
