During my Co-op Experience at DAAP Ceramic Lab in the Summer of 2024, I embarked on a sustainability project that involved repurposing our glaze waste into stoneware to be used as planters. The first steps included lots of research and testing of what percentage of glaze waste could be added to stoneware and still be vitreous. After several tests, I was able to get around 40% of dry glaze waste into stoneware and still be vitreous. Over the summer term, I was able to repurpose 195 lbs of glaze waste into stoneware and transform it into planters.
