The Ascension

Broken pottery, liquid nail glue, acrylic paint, 7" x 23", 2023.

I chose to show the obstacles and problems that any ceramicist goes through when making a pot on the wheel, it can either go really well or with one little mistake, the whole piece can collapse. At the top of the sculpture, is a ceramic blooming flower to resemble that achievement of all the practice and hardships it took to get there.

Juxtaposed

Tree bark, sticks, nails and glue, 3ft x 3ft, 2023. For this piece, I embarked on natural found pieces and assembled them into a sculptural piece that was further given back to nature where erosion and animals could use as shelter. I wanted to create this juxtaposition of living and dead, with a tree alive and beside it hanging fallen bark from dead trees while inside holds a feather of how gentle and fragile trees remain.
